Cape Memories: Barnstable Village 1850-1950
This new photo exhibit will be on display at Tales of Cape Cod throughout the summer's lecture season. It comes to us through the generosity of several area residents and organizations:
Thanks to Lucy Loomis, the Sturgis Library and Douglas Mitchell of Seabury Farm for various portraits and street scenes as well as images and artifacts from the Barnstable County Fair during the period when the Fair was held at the Bacon Farm on Main Street.
Thanks to Ned and Sue Handy for opening innumerable family photo albums for a glimpse into the lives of three generations of ancestors and friends.
Thanks to Virginia Woollard and the Barnstable Historical Society for the wonderful postcard blow-up showing the Village from the hill above the Court House.
Thanks to the late Judy Barnett, via the Sturgis Library, for the distinctive blue cyanotype prints.
Thanks to St. Mary’s Church for the photo of the carriages in front of the church.
And thanks to the anonymous donor of the scrapbook now in the Tales of Cape Cod collection, with its adorable images of Madeline Cobb and Lucy Woodworth, both of whom (we think!) lived here too
